Favourite ‘Men’ Fragrances

Although I believe all if not most fragrances are unisex, these are some of my most enjoyed fragrances which are targeted at a male audience. Masculine fragrances tend to be woody, smoky, fresh, or aromatic., and tend to have very few floral notes or sweet notes such as raspberry etc., and tend to include sharp citruses instead. I own a couple masculine fragrances which I wear regardless of their targeted clientele as I enjoy their sharpness and strength that the ‘masculinity’ of them does matter, which I think most people should focus on. Here are a few of my favourite fragrances for ‘men’ which I’ve enjoyed working with or that I like to wear myself.

1 - Le Beau Le Parfum Intense by Jean Paul Gautier

Jean Paul Gautier’s fragrances are popularly known and are divine. This fragrance is no exception. It is gourmand with its note of coconut which makes it beach reminiscent and gives this scent a creamy texture. It’s base has notes of tonka bean which is one of my favourite fragrance notes and one which I regularly seek out. The tonka bean gives this fragrance such richness and depth in its silky, slightly woody way which is alike to coffee without the sweetness or bitterness, just the velvety consistency. It creates an intensity which the name of this fragrance implies and makes the wearer sulty and gives them a mature and rich aura surrounding them. The longevity of this fragrance is unmatched, I have worn it myself and have had others wear it and the smell lasts for hours on end without becoming dull or losing its settled scent from previously. I have and will continue to recommend this fragrance to friends and other friends for their significant others. It is sexy and unique and conveys a good sense for fragrance by the wearer. This takes typical ‘male’ rich fragrances seen in some oud or tobacco scents in Tom Ford’s collection which are very popular and elevates it with a freshness. This freshness is not by overly potent citrus or herbs (although it does have an aromatic background) but with this indulgent, creamy coconut which makes the fragrance so much more digestible and addictive. I have had others buy it from my recommendation and have had no complaints, with even the wearers being complimented frequently because of the fragrance. This is for men who have grown up and want to delve into a luxurious scent without going with overpowering, typical smoky scents. It is also quite affordable given the high quality and designer label. One of my overall favourite fragrances of all time.

2 - Tabarome Millesime by Creed

This fragrance is a perfect cosy, winter fragrance which is rich, smooth and decadent while not being overly moreish. Its gourmand while playing with desirable, nostalgic notes of tea, coffee and rum which stands this fragrance apart from its brand counterparts which are much more fruity, citrus and aromatic. This scent is warm, not too overpowering with an expected alcohol ‘tang’ but instead is rounded with these decadent notes of slightly sweet and warm tea and bitter and velvety coffee. There is a smoke of tobacco which lies in this fragrance which matures the scent and is balanced by spice and citruses. The texture is smooth by the creamy and slightly woody sandalwood note. It is comforting and perfectly balanced as a fragrance, no note exentuates or lives at the forefront of this fragrance but instead come together to make this unique smell which is strong but not extreme. It is warm. I imagine a gentleman by the fireplace who is kind and mature and who is rich in life if not aswell in finances, drinking a Spanish coffee with a ginger kick. The citrus and spice come through and are not lost and livens up the fragrance and compliments the rum note perfectly. without souring or seperating the scent. The longevity of this and other Creed fragrances are outstanding and they can last almost days on fabrics and up to a day if not more on skin.

3 - Toy Boy by Moschino

This leathery, smoked fragrance which has a sweet undertone but is very heavy and animalic would usually be an overpowering fragrance which I would avoid but the scent grew on me until it is one of my most liked masculine fragrances. It is heavily spiced and peppery with its notes of pink pepper, nutmeg and clove. It is very reminiscent to liquorice but in a more floral, smoky way which is less gourmand/edible but deep, warm and woody. The texture is smooth with its warming amber and soft cashmere that the fragrance has this base comfort to it which strays it from aromatic, fresh peppery fragrances so popular amongst men. It is an interesting scent which I find captivating in its creamy but peppery combination. The Moschino bottles which are ‘teddy bear’ shaped are also adorable and stand out.

What are your favourite woody and/or smoky scents? Have you tried these?

P.S, poetry content will be coming shortly ;)
