An Interesting Sour Fragrance

Hermes’ Un Jardin Sur Le Nil is a refreshing and tart fragrance which is unique and different than many fragrances I have tried or own. It is sour in an invigorating way which awakens the olfactory senses and excites the tongue. Unlike many recent popular fragrances, it does not adhere to vanilla, sweet, floral or sandalwood notes that are typically produced. It is citrusy and zingy with no creaminess that it melts into. It reminds me of fresh lemonade, not in a fruity or sweet way but this scent for me engages with the bodily functions which occur from lemons where from just smell alone my cheeks tense and invert, and my mouth waters. It uses grapefruit, and interestingly tomatoes, which is unique and experimental, to create this accurate sourness which is engaging and gourmand in a light and revitalising. There are hints of underlying green notes which gives this scent an earthiness, freshness and slight herbacious bitterness which combines with the citrus and does not stand seperated from its top notes. It creates this garden earthy aroma through diverting notes such as carrots. This is a fantastic summer fragrance when you desire an uplift and a fresh, clean aura which is strong and captivates its audience and not just being a powdery, mild, ‘clean’ fragrance which is simular to fresh linen. This is punchy in a different way to many other fruity perfumes. This is a scent which is perfectly unisex and doen’t set itself with spicy, smoky or floral, and sweet but instead an inviting, gourmand, refreshing and zingy scent.

Many of Hermes fragrances are fresh, herby or fruity and uses notes which smell of natural elements and things of which are familiar to us from playing in forests and the garden growing up. Do you have a favourite Hermes fragrance?
