NEW!: Bluebell & Wild Strawberry Eau de Parfum by Molton Brown
I was fortunate to have been allowed try Molton Brown’s new fragrance, Bluebell & Wild Strawberry, which released yesterday (Monday the 17th of January 2025). This is one of my favourite fragrances from the brand, it has ventured further from its roots in a creative and trendy way and opened its doors to these fruity, powdery, creamy scents which are popular, for good reason, and is different from their usual fresh, herbacious, or floral scents. Bluebell & Wild Strawberry EDP is green, creamy, earthy and fresh but in a heavier indulgent and soothing way. The opening of wild strawberry is not at all what is expected, it is tart and green rather than the artificial sweetness one might expect from ‘strawberry’. It is a soft hint of tart which is more so green to match the green floral scent from the bluebell. So far the scent seems bitter and earthy but the overarching violet gives this scent a powderiness which is comforting. No longer is it an estranged scent we expect but rather clean and relaxing and gives an air of delicate clouds a top fields of blubells and wild strawberries which adds a fresh, green bitterness but not too overpoweringly so. It is a clean scent which feels creamy from this effect in a way to myself. The slight tartness makes it youthful compared to many of the other Molton Brown scents which may seem a lot more mature. It is Spring in a bottle, it smells of a picnic in the outdoors rather than just a floral rose garden which we as fragrance lovers are so often bombarded with at this time of year. I love this fragrance and am looking forward to getting my hands on a bottle of it. It is unique and fruity floral in a more digestible and relaxing way than usual and it feels soft all round. Nothing is overwhelming, the bitter green bluebell breaks up the violet powderiness and the tart wild strawberry melts into the green bittnerness to make it more harmonious and feminine, it all works beautifully together and all notes are heard at a very similar volume. I would rate this fragrance a 4/5.
The bitter tartness of the red seeded berry
that is slightly sweet and earthy on my nose
as I walk through this forest in February
and bluebells awake and peak through the snow,
Their stems hearted in this Spring garden,
The January frost melting with the golden hues
which smoke and warm this bluebell garden,
Then an airy breeze brings forth a muse
of a smelll of cut grass and a powdered sky,
made by the leaves of the delicate violet
which lifts my spirits high
Did you hear about this upcoming launch?
