Parfums de Marly Feminine Sample Set Ranking
Hi there! Welcome back after the short break we had from the blog. Hope you all kept well. Today I will be ranking the sample set I bought from Parfums de Marly which I previously mentioned in another blog. The format will work the same as the Kayali reviews where I will bee ranking from my favourite to least favourite ( 1 - being the best, 8 - being the worst). Thank you for your patience with the delay and let’s get into the reviews.
1. Oriana - This was my favourite fragrance from the collection as it smelt so delicious. It was described as floral, fruity and gourmand so it makes sense why this stood out amongst its counterparts as gourmand fragrances are my favourite. It did the gourmand fragrance in a mature, sophisticated, gentle and elegant way by combining with florals. It was not alike popular gourmand fragrances on the market or ones I have previously reviewed as it was not highlighting or focusing on the edible notes too much or making it dessert like but it instead just made the fragrance juicy and vibrant with its raspberry and mandarin. It was not overly sweet and fruity. You can get the note of marshmallow but not in a childish aroma but aligns itself more with a ‘clean’ aesthetic. It is a citrus addiction, a feminine Creed Neroli Sauvage, powdery and more creamy take. It smells expensive and luxurious. I absolutely loved this fragrance.
2. Vayala Exclusif - I usually don’t enjoy floral fragrances, which a lot of Parfums de Marly fragrances in this set were but this was a lovely mild and slightly gourmand take. It had a strong presence of almonds. It smelt of vanilla. It is creamy, nutty, and powdery. It reminded me of Perfect Intense by Marc Jacobs but in a more formal and less sweet way. This seemed to me like a lovely fragrance for a bride for her wedding.
3. Cassili - This again was another fragrance described as gourmand and fruity so it is no wonder that this fragrance landed highly on my list. It smelt edible and was sweeter than Oriana from the collection. It was decadent, fruity, ‘plummy’ but also creamy. It smells edible and like old fashioned sweets which evoked a warming nostalgia. I would say due to the sweet plum notes that it would find itself as a Winter fragrance, especially with its deepness created by tonka beans which are one of my favourite notes in fragrances. I would argue that Cassili is a great fruity Winter fragrance and Oriana is perfect for a vibrant Summer fragrance.
4. Palatine - This is another fruity fragrance. It is creamy, sweet and clean which seems to be a theme of the Parfums de Marly fragrances. It is powdery and floral that reminded me of J’adore by Dior very slighlty. The violet in this fragrance is strong and gives this soft, powdery, suede effect which is not subtle. There is also a slight bitterness underlying in the scent which seems to come from the lavender note. It wasn’t exciting or my favourite perfume but it was still a lovely, soft, comforting fragrance.
5. Meliora - This is a floral, fruity fragrance but not one that I extremely enjoyed. It had a slight sourness that was very light that could be the blackcurrant note, this weak tartness. It is again airy and clean with a light muskiness, again similar to many of the other scents in this collection. It felt woody albeit there being no wood notes listed. This one ranks low on the list as it seemed a little weak and boring compared to the others unfortunately.
6. Delina Exclusif - This was a fragrance which was too floral for myself. You are hit with a potent rose and a strong pear note. There is a weird green sweetness which myself and a peer found reminiscent to talcon powder. You get this overwhelming smoke from the incense which smells of barbequing the pears in the scent. It felt all out of place from eachother and too over the top with its notes for me. It was very different from the other scents in the set which made it interesting but it was too confusing for me to enjoy the difference of this scent.
7. Delina - This was a scent which went viral on social media such as TikTok and was raved about. People seemed to comliment how it added to the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic trend. It seemed to be conveyed as clean and feminine. This was not what I got from this fragrance at all, if anything this seemed like one of the least ‘clean’ scents from the collection, which was extremely unexpected. There is a very mild sweetness but it is mostly green and bitter with the vetiver coming to the forefront. There is a hit of rose which exemplifies this floral bitterness and it did not smell clean, creamy or fruity. The rhubarb note was extremly weak and I could not get in my testing of the scent. It was very aromatic and bitter and it didnt pair well with the rose which just made the scent too overpowering in this naturlistic green way. Therefore, I did not personally like Delina which I found shocking considering how well the fragrance has done.
8. Valaya - I thought considering I liked Valaya Exclusif, that I would also enjoy Valaya, but there are completely different fragrances I found. Similar to Delina, it was strong with this green outdoorsy aroma. However, Valaya does smell clean, mature and woody. It was very musky and reminded me of a forest. The peach note was very weak and I could not notice it which was disappointing. It smelt of fresh linen amongst a woodland path which was not what I was expecting considering other reviews. This was green in an unappealing and boring way, hence why it has ranked last.
